| CASE STUDY 1 CORK SCHEME ACHIEVES 40% ENERGY SAVING |
‘A’ BER CERT USING THE DIMPLEX SOLAR PANELS AND XPELAIR HEAT RECOVERY VENTILATION SYSTEMS.
Glen Corrin is a new scheme of 60 homes in Cork where Bardsley Developments, have chosen to specify and install Dimplex solar-thermal and Xpelair heat recovery ventilation systems. Dimplex solar panels provide up to 60% of the annual domestic hot water needs of each home from sunlight. The Xpelair heat recovery ventilation system extracts stale humid air and supply fresh tempered air to these air-tight homes reducing the consumption on the primary heating system by up to 40%. Incorporating both systems means the ovevrall energy efficiency of the dwellings is dramatically increased, with a corresponding reduction in annual energy bills for the owner. These Glen Dimplex technologies have helped ensure that the Glen Corrin homes attained a BER classification of ‘A’, a standard achieved by only a handful of residential schemes in Ireland. Having this rating not only means reduced energy bills, it also guarantees an initial price premium for the developer and will also deliver improved owner capital value long into the future. |
